Weirdo Swarm

My first interaction with KGLW was actually meeting them in-person in 2017 at Shuga Records, my favorite record store at the time when I was a college student living in Chicago. They were doing a vinyl signing and meet-n-greet, and I picked up a blank cover variant of Paper Mâché Dream Balloon as it had the most space for their signatures. I didn't really think much of it at the time, I had gone mainly because my roommate wanted his Nonagon Infinity record signed. Although I recognized how even then how nice they were to everyone waiting in line and how excited they seemed just being there, I hadn't really listened to them much for years after that. I couldn't have imagined then that I would later view them as one of the most important bands of all time. The album that broke the dry spell was Phantom Island, and after that the floodgates were finally opened up to me.
